I said to myself I would update this blog once a month and I completely forgot that I'm in my last year of university and had deadlines creeping up on me. I FINALLY managed to finish this book a few weeks ago! I spent most of the time reading it when I was on the train to and from home otherwise I would still be reading it now.
What struck me most about this book was that it was no where near as amusing as the other two previous Bridget Jones books. There is quite a gloomy background story which does not uplift the story line throughout. This book fast forwards Bridget into a 'proper' adult life but she still always faces the same problems as she did in the previous books (the insecurity of herself, the depression of single life and resorting to eating blocks of cheese straight from the fridge). However, as always Bridget comes out happy and joyful which makes the readers happier once they finish reading the book.
I have noticed more and more fictional books include modern technologies within their story lines. I'm not sure why but I find it so strange when I see Twitter and Facebook being mentioned in a book and even examples of tweets which this includes a lot of but it just goes to show not only how we are technologically advanced, even fictional characters. It's still mind blowing me now despite me doing a Media Communications degree (you'd think I wouldn't be such an alien about this topic?!).
My degree is almost coming to an end. We are now in May and I finish on the 13th May! Time is going so fast but I am looking forward to having more free time to be able to read all the books I've been wanting to read. I still do not see the appeal to a Kindle so in the meantime I will still pay for second hand books from Amazon.
